Propitas were instructed by a local government body to tender and manage the refurbishment and remedial works at a youth placement hostel following flooding in 2021. The flood waters were up to 4ft in areas of the building, being below ground level. As such, Propitas were required to work with the loss adjuster to ascertain the extent of the remedial works required to the building to get it back to a useable service. Following the initial tender returns the client decided, that while the building was vacant they would also utilise this period to undertake any updating and safeguarding works, thereby leaving the building “futureproof”. Propitas ran the project from conception through to completion, whilst managing some delays caused by the discovery of Asbestos throughout. Overall the project was completed to a high standard and on budget with the delays on site being reduced by a reorganisation of the workforce on site.
